West Brom make shock move for midfielder after Everton approach - report
By Alex Stevens
West Brom have made a move to steal Morgan Schneiderlin from under the noses of Everton, according to a report.
The Sun claim Everton are in the driving seat to land the Manchester United midfield anchorman and have already made an approach in a bid to seal a January deal.
But the Merseyside club now face serious competition from West Brom, whose manager Tony Pulis is said to be a big admirer of Schneiderlin and has made a “shock” swoop for the player.
The France international has barely had a look-in at United since Jose Mourinho took over as manager in the summer.
But United still want to recoup the £24million transfer fee they paid Southampton for the midfielder in July 2015.

It is a surprise that West Brom are prepared to go head-to-head with cash-rich Everton for the signature of Schneiderlin, although both of the player’s suitors are keen to negotiate a cheaper deal.
Football Insider verdict:
Schneiderlin might not be Mourinho’s idea of a top-notch midfielder but that does not mean the Frenchman should make the drop down the ladder to West Brom. He is simply too good. Pulis has worked wonders with the Midlands club and ensured they consistently punch above their weight, but Schneiderlin is a France international and a proven Premier League performer. He should move to a club who are ambitious to challenge for trophies in the years to come rather than one who are simply happy to remain in the top flight.
In the latest Everton transfer news, the club are in talks to sign three midfielder in January, although one deal has hit a stumbling block.
