West Ham fans all say the same thing after Luis Guilherme absence vs Man United
West Ham supporters have flocked onto social media to send a message to Nuno Espirito Santo after leaving Luis Guilherme out against Man United.
Nuno has identified issues in the West Ham squad, Mick Brown has revealed to Football Insider, and the January transfer window cannot come quickly enough after announcing his lineup.
And despite beating Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, Ruben Amorim also made several changes ahead of the clash at Old Trafford on Thursday, 4 December
Lucas Paqueta is West Ham’s only change after getting himself sent off against Liverpool, but supporters have been far more frustrated by one of the players not even included in the squad.
Luis Guilherme was nowhere to be seen vs Man United
After exciting cameos against Bournemouth and Liverpool, Guilherme was a surprise absentee for the trip to Old Trafford, with supporters all asking the same question after the lineup was announced.
One supporter labelled Nuno’s bench selection “ridiculous”, while another found it extremely “disappointing” that the young Brazilian was left out.
- @JacobSteinberg: “£25m on Guilherme, a 19yo Brazilian who can’t get in ahead of homegrown academy players.”
- @xAaron12_: “Dropping Guilherme is just stupid, looked bright v Liverpool, now that midfield will be slaughtered with Soucek in there and Fernandes out on the left.”
- @Lawrenceee_B: “No Guilherme in the squad at all is disappointing, especially given there’s no Paqueta or Summerville.”
Niclas Fullkrug was also a notable absentee, with Callum Wilson continuing to lead the line, as the German striker appears to be edging closer and closer to a January exit.
West Ham supporters excited as Freddie Potts trusted again
Supporters have really enjoyed Nuno’s trust in the youngsters, with Freddie Potts getting a long run of games in the lineup, despite rarely making an appearance under Graham Potter.
He has managed to keep Guido Rodriguez out of the team, unsurprisingly, with the 22-year-old teaming up with summer signing Soungoutou Magassa in the middle of the park.
While the Hammers went into the clash still inside the relegation zone, they had been three games unbeaten before the trip to Anfield, with Nuno finally making strides at the London Stadium.
Still, there is plenty of work for the former Nottingham Forest boss to do, but fans are far more optimistic since the departure of Potter, and it is no surprise why, in all honesty.
