West Ham United fans are by and large unimpressed on Twitter by the rumours suggesting that Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca is wanted by the Hammers.

According to Sam Inkersole on Twitter, a reputable journalist on all things regarding the East London club, the Irons held a meeting with the Portuguese supremo with a view to taking over from David Moyes at the London Stadium, and will also speak with the ex-Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery.

Moyes guided West Ham to a 13th place league finish in the Premier League but his contract at the club came to an end at midnight on Sunday, leading to speculation he might not be given the role on a more permanent basis.

It was then reported by ESPN journalist Pete O’Rourke after holding talks with the board on Monday, that the Scot had left the club.

Fonseca is out of contract with Shakhtar this summer and has been in charge of the club since 2016 where he has managed to guide the Ukranian club to their second successive top flight title.

Despite the fact that the Portuguese has bagged silverware wherever he has managed, that does not seem to be enough of a lure to excite the Hammers faithful, who were more interested in taking advantage of the manager’s command of the English language on social media.
