West Ham fans react on Twitter to new Reece Oxford contract

West Ham fans reacted with excitement on Twitter after it was announced Reece Oxford has signed a new four-and-a-half year contract with the club.
The 18-year-old signed a new deal on his birthday and it was announced on the club’s official Twitter account on Friday morning.

Oxford became the second-youngest player ever in the Premier League when he made his debut in the 2-0 victory against Arsenal and he has gone on to become a huge figure at the club.
He is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in England and was linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United.
The youngster has been with the academy since the age of 13 and listed players such as Rio Ferdinand, Mark Noble and Joe Cole as his inspirations.

Oxford is a ball-playing defender who is also capable of playing in midfield and he hopes to force his way into the first team this season.
The 18-year-old has been out of action for six weeks after picking up an ankle injury but he made two appearances in the Europa League against Domzale and Astra Giurgiu prior to his injury.
He has told the club he wanted to become a future captain of West Ham and has now committed his future to the Londoners until at least 2021.
