West Ham fans pan James Tomkins on Twitter after performance for Crystal Palace
By Will Butcher
West Ham fans mocked James Tomkins on Twitter after the defender missed a huge chance to score for Crystal Palace against his old side .
The defender missed from close range when it looked easier to find the net, which could have completely changed the game with the score still at 0-0.
Goals from Sofiane Feghouli, Andy Carroll and Manuel Lanzini saw Tomkins’ old side end a run of three straight defeats to win 3-0 at the London Stadium.
Tomkins, who was a product of the Hammers’ youth academy, signed for Palace in the summer for a fee of around £10million pounds after falling out of favour in east London.
As well as his embarrassing miss, Tomkins almost became the victim of a short backpass to goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey as Andy Carroll looked to steal in.

Since his move to the Eagles, Tomkins has struggled to play regularly under both Alan Pardew and Sam Allardyce with just 14 league and cup outings.
