West Ham fans will absolutely love what Jarrod Bowen has said as ‘special’ gem signs new deal

Jarrod Bowen already appears excited for the next generation of talented footballers to emerge at West Ham.

Football Insider understands that Bowen has no plans to leave West Ham right now, even with the Hammers currently hurtling towards relegation to the Championship for the first time since 2012.

West Ham are still struggling under Nuno Espirito Santo, with very little difference made after Graham Potter‘s departure, but supporters are far more favourable of the former Nottingham Forest boss.

He has made some key changes to the squad already, and while they are yet to pay off on the pitch, he has made a much bigger impact than the manager before him.

With some senior players underperforming, it might be time to delve into the academy.

West Ham gem puts pen to paper on a new deal

West Ham have announced that 18-year-old Preston Fearon has signed across the dotted line, securing his future with the club until the summer of 2028, just over a year after agreeing his first professional deal.

In that time, he has captained the Under-18s, stepped up to the Under-21s, and was called up to the first team during pre-season this summer to face Man United.

He already has three goals and an assist in nine appearances from the centre of midfield this term, but even despite his performances, many fans might not yet know who he is.

If Bowen’s comments about the young player are anything to go by, he could be joining the likes of Ollie Scarles, Freddie Potts, and Callum Marshall around the senior team much more often.

Jarrod Bowen is excited about Preston Fearon’s development

Speaking during pre-season [Official website], Bowen said: ”He’s a special player. I’m surprised he didn’t nutmeg anyone, because I’ve never seen someone nutmeg so many people in training.

“He’s done it to me a couple of times as well! I’ll let him off because he’s a special player, and a really good person as well. He’s really grounded, and he really wants to work hard.

“I’m so glad he got his opportunity tonight, because he deserved it. I’m proud of him and so happy for him, and I know there’ll be many more to come.”

It sounds as though Fearon has the kind of spark that could transform the Hammers’ midfield over the coming seasons, but he may need a loan spell before breaking into the Premier League.
