West Ham fans will be delighted after 'brilliant' Antonio reveal - pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted David Moyes will be delighted to see Michail Antonio commit to a new contract at West Ham.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested there is no player in the Premier League more deserving of a new deal than the 31-year-old.
As confirmed on Friday (7 January), Antonio has signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2024.
The Hammers have also included an optional one-year extension clause in the terms of the deal.
Whelan heralded Antonio’s “character and attitude” at the London Stadium.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Look, it’s an absolute no brainer. I don’t think this is going to come as a surprise to anybody.

“Having David Moyes has been the perfect manager for Michail Antonio. The two of them work very well together. You talk about character and attitude, he looks like he’s got a great character about him.
“Someone that comes out with a smile on his face on the training ground, works really hard to improve his game and doesn’t want to let the manager down. He hasn’t.
“I don’t think there’s any more deserving player in the Premier League that deserves this extension.
“This is great for West Ham, great for the fans and brilliant for David Moyes and Antonio that they can be working together now for another two, three years.
“You’re trying to keep that core of the side together that has been so important to their success.”
Antonio joined West Ham from Nottingham Forest back in 2015.
He has scored 57 goals in 203 appearances for the Irons to date.
