Campbell reacts to 'huge' Rice news ahead of West Ham v Everton

Declan Rice’s imminent return to West Ham action is a “huge boost” in their hunt to finish in the top four.

That is according to ex-Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider ahead of the Hammers’ clash with the Toffees on Sunday.

West Ham boss David Moyes told the club’s media team that he “hopes to have him available” against Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

The 22-year-old midfielder missed West Ham’s last five matches after sustaining a knee injury while away on international duty with England.

Prior to his current spell on the sidelines, Rice had not missed a minute of Premier League action in 2020-21.

Campbell claims Moyes will be purring upon hearing that Rice could possibly return at the weekend.

He told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs: “It’s a huge boost, Declan Rice returning to the side.

“He’s coming back to try and get in the Champions League and prove his fitness for the Euros.

“It’s a massive game. It’s one that Everton are really, really gonna want to get something out of.

“But I just don’t see that happening because Everton are just not playing well enough at the moment. It’s as simple as that.”

Rice’s West Ham are currently 5th in the Premier League standings, three points behind Chelsea in the race for the top four.

After Sunday’s clash with Everton, they face Brighton, West Brom and Southampton in the final three matches of the season.
