Pundit delivers verdict on 'massive blow' to West Ham after Lingard reported news

Man United are reportedly set to offer Jesse Lingard a new three-year deal – a “massive blow” for his suitors West Ham.

That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Daily Star claimed on 26th June that United will offer the attacking midfielder a new and improved deal.

Lingard’s current deal runs until next summer and is reported by the Daily Star to be worth £110,000-a-week.

They assert that last season’s Premier League runners-up will up this pay packet to £130,000-a-week.

That comes after this site revealed on 18th June that the Irons are likely to have to hand Lingard a big pay rise if they want to lure him this summer.

Lingard joined West Ham on loan in January where he scored nine goals and supplied five assists in 16 matches.

Kenny raved over Lingard’s impact at the London Stadium and suggested they would be devastated if he remained at Old Trafford next season.

“It’s definitely a big blow,” he told Football Insider correspondent

“He went in January and was absolutely unreal. Maybe that’s what he needed as a player to get away from Man United and play a few games and show everyone what he can do.

“He’s shown that he’s done that and that might be why they might be offering him a new deal.

“If he did go back he’d go back fresh. But it will be a massive blow for West Ham because he was such a key player for them at end of last season.
