The 29-year-old, who reportedly earns £140,000-a-week, hasn’t featured for the Irons since the disastrous home defeat to Burnley back at the beginning of March and despite featuring only as a bit part player this season since his summer move from Bayer Leverkusen, has still managed to register seven goals.
Football Insider verdict:
Depending on how close Chicharito is to returning to full fitness, this is great news for the club. Hammers manager David Moyes needs everyone available for the Premier League run-in. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward remains the Irons second top scorer, despite only making 16 starts for the team and has rarely disappointed when he has been given an opportunity to show what he is capable of. There has been much speculation surrounding his future and suggestions from the player himself that he may leave the London Stadium in the summer in a bid to regain first-team action.
