Sources: West Ham line up Lampard as shock Moyes alternative
West Ham have lined up Frank Lampard as a shock manager alternative if David Moyes makes a late contract U-turn, Football Insider understands.
This site revealed yesterday morning (10th June) that Hammers chiefs are confident the Scot, 58, will sign the new three-year deal he has been offered.
But a West Ham source has told Football Insider the club have paid the groundwork for Lampard to potentially take over if Moyes sensationally quits.
The Hammers academy product is only a back-up and it is not one that the Irons are expecting to turn to.
Moyes and his representatives have indicated over the last 48 hours that he will extend his stay at the club until 2024.
But there is still disquiet in some senior circles at the London Stadium that the manager has not extended his deal, and that he could jump ship to Everton.

Lampard has been linked with the vacant Crystal Palace job but Football Insider revealed on 20th March he had pulled out of the running.
The England and Premier League legend is eager to return to management since being sacked by Chelsea earlier this year but wants to be at a club who will not face a relegation battle.
Lampard had an uneasy relationship with West Ham fans during his Chelsea playing days, but that has thawed in recent years and he has spoken warmly of the club where he made his name.
Moyes’ current deal expires at the end of this month, although the Hammers are said to hold an optional 12-month extension clause.
Moyes is aware he is a firm target for Everton and, as revealed by this site on Wednesday (2nd June), the longstanding chairman Bill Kenwright has been championing his cause.
Indeed, Moyes has spoken informally to Kenwright about the position made vacant by Carlo Ancelotti’s exit and his main family home is in Lancashire.
