West Ham make move to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin – sources
West Ham have made an enquiry about potentially signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Hammers are in the market for a new centre-forward and have shortlisted the Everton striker among multiple options to strengthen up front.
Calvert-Lewin, 27, has failed to agree terms on a new deal at Goodison Park and will see his current contract expire in the summer of 2025.
Newcastle also retain their interest in the striker despite seeing talks with Everton collapsing at the beginning of the month.
As first revealed by Football Insider, the Magpies are lining up a new bid if they can move Callum Wilson away from St James’ Park in the coming weeks.
West Ham in contact over Dominic Calvert-Lewin deal amid Newcastle competition
Calvert-Lewin joined Everton in 2016 after a £1.5million fee was agreed with Sheffield United, and has gone on to make 247 appearances on Merseyside, scoring 68 goals.
His goalscoring form has been mixed in recent campaigns, finding the net seven times in 32 league games last season, while he scored two in 17 the season before.
He has also suffered from a string of injury issues and missed 97 games during his eight years at Goodison Park, raising questions about his long-term availability.
His contract situation has alerted interested clubs, who will aim to secure a cut-price deal with just a year left until he can leave for free.

New West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui has been keen to strengthen his squad after taking over from David Moyes.
The Hammers have already completed two big-money deals this summer, with Max Kilman arriving from Wolves and Luis Guilherme joining from Palmeiras.
In other news, Everton have been blown out of the water by an Aston Villa offer.
