West Ham news: David Moyes handed major 'training ground' boost - pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted Sunday’s 4-0 win over Norwich City will have given the West Ham squad a major confidence boost after last week’s loss to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker suggested the Irons needed to get back to winning ways immediately as they push for a European spot for next season.
A brace from Said Benrahma, as well as goals from Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini, secured a comfortable win for the Hammers at Carrow Road.
The victory came just three days after they lost 1-0 – 3-1 on aggregate – to Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-finals.
With West Ham battling for a Europa League or Europa Conference League spot, Whelan insisted Sunday’s win was much-needed.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “They’ve got to make sure that they’re in Europe.

“They’ve got to finish the season strongly. I don’t think David Moyes will allow them to take the foot off the gas. He’ll have wanted them to bounce back straight away.
“Winning the next game is the best way to get over a disappointment. They’ll have had that little bit of time to recover, get it out of their systems.
“But sometimes the best way when you fall off a horse is to get straight back on it. To get that next win, that winning mentality and feeling back into the players.
“That feel-good factor around the training ground to try and finish the season as strong as possible and cement their place in Europe.”
West Ham currently sit seventh in the Premier League table.
They are three points behind sixth-placed Manchester United with a game in hand.
