Football Insider rates the West Ham players out of ten following their 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at the London Stadium on Monday evening.

Darren Randolph 6 – The shot-stopper couldn’t do much to keep out the two goals, even though Ibrahimovic’s strike was offside. When called upon, he did his job.

Havard Nordtveit 4 – It’s difficult defending with ten men, but when Marcus Rashford came on in the second half with the game goalless, the England youngster changed the game. He particularly gave Nordveit a run around as seen by the first goal where he was beaten for pace.

Winston Reid 5 – The centre-back was out of position for the first goal and should have stopped Juan Mata from getting to the ball.

Angelo Ogbonna 6 – The Italian broke up play well, especially considering his side were down to ten men. He didn’t do enough going forward, but that was understandable as his side were under the cosh for most of the game.

Aaron Cresswell 4 – The current form of Creswell is lagging and he has not produced the same form that won him plaudits last season. Not enough threat going forward, nor is he adding any strength in defence.

Chiekhou Kouyaté 7 – Produced a solid performance in the middle of the park with Pedro Obiang. Defended when he needed to and made the right pass. Unfortunate that he had to do it with ten men.

Pedro Obiang 7 – Not to dissimilar game to Kouyate, they bossed the midfield and for quite some time made the away team look average because of Obiang’s display.

Manuel Lanzini 6 – He was back to his best against United, but should have found the back of the net as he forced some crucial saves from De Gea. Would have made more of an impact had the controversial sending off not occurred.

Sofiane Feghouli 6 – Wrongly sent off after 15 minutes by referee, Mike Dean. West Ham would have got something from the game had he not been given his marching orders for a tackle on Phil Jones.

Michail Antonio 5 – Downgraded for missing a crucial chance during the game. He was one on one with the keeper, but he hit straight at De Gea. Moments later United score through Mata.

Dimitri Payet 3 – The senior player looked disinterested and he has not hit top form this season. He was substituted off after 69 minutes for Andy Carroll, but the home side didn’t miss him. That says a lot.

SUBS:

Andy Carroll 5 – (Payet, 69)

Edmilson Fernandes 5 – (Kouyaté, 82)

Andre Ayew N/A – (Lanzini, 89)

In other West Ham news, this senior attacker must be sold following the defeat against Manchester United.
