West Ham ready to splash £13.2m for La Liga attacker as senior man jets out on transfer mission - report

West Ham manager David Moyes is set to jet out on a personal transfer mission to keep close watch over Real Betis attacker Fabian Ruiz, according to a report.
ESPN claims that Moyes will watch Real Betis’ La Liga fixture against Barcelona on Sunday in order to cast his rule over Ruiz, 21, before he decides to make a move and sign him.
It is understood that the attacking midfielder has a £13.2million release clause and the Hammers are ready to splash that much if London Stadium senior man Moyes is impressed.
Midfielders are said to be West Ham’s top priority this season and in Ruiz, the Hammer could land themselves an up-and-coming player who can play behind a striker, in the centre of the park or on the left wing.
He has made 16 appearances in all competitions for Real Betis this season, scoring two goals and supplying two assists in the process.
Football Insider verdict
West Ham definitely need one or two midfielders this month and Ruiz would be someone who could be signed with a view to him starring more in the future as well as the present. The Spain Under-21 international is very highly-rated in La Liga and is tipped to have a big future. His £13.2million release clause could seem like peanuts in the future if the Hammers get the most out of him. Moyes’ work won’t be finished though by signing Ruiz as there are still other areas of his squad that need strengthening. There could also be players leaving the London Stadium this month, so replacements for them would also be necessary.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are favourites to sign this £25million centre-forward from a Premier League rival.
