Betting update: Newcastle and West Ham joint-favourites to seal Jan swoop for £25m PL centre-forward

Newcastle United and West Ham are joint-favourites to sign Leicester centre-forward Kelechi Iheanacho during the January transfer window, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
BetVictor have the Magpies and the Hammers priced at 8/1 to sign Iheanacho, 21, before the end of the month while Stoke and Besiktas also join them in pole position after an update in the market.
Southampton and Bournemouth (both 12/1) are also seen to be in the running for the 14-times Nigeria international, who only joined Leicester in the summer from Manchester City in a deal worth £25million.

Iheanacho dropped down the pecking order at Man City in the aftermath of the signing of Gabriel Jesus and it appears that the Nigerian has struggled to settle into life at the King Power, so far failing to match his consistent strike rate he had at the Etihad.
The 21-year-old has made just 14 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes, scoring just three goals in the process – all of which coming against lower league opposition in the cups.
He most recently netted a brace in the FA Cup Third Round replay win against Fleetwood but has not played a single minute in the Premier League since November as Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki are the more preferred options in attack by Claude Puel.
In other Newcastle United news, it has been confirmed that this Magpies colossus has left to join this mid-table club.
