West Ham senior man jets out on transfer mission to see £20m-rated centre-back - reliable journalist

West Ham assistant manager Stuart Pearce jetted out to Belgium on Sunday to see Leander Dendoncker play for Anderlecht against Genk in the Belgian Jupiler League on Sunday, according to a reliable journalist.
HLN reporter Kristoff Terreur claimed on his personal Twitter account on Monday morning that the Hammers senior man was on a transfer mission to keep close watch over Dendoncker, 22, as he helped Anderlecht win 1-0 while playing at centre-back.
It is understood that while the Brussels giants are not looking to offload the Belgium international any time soon, they have set an asking price at £20million.
Terreur adds that Dendoncker himself is open to a move away from his home nation, and that West Ham are taking a very keen interest in him by sending Pearce out to scout him.

Dendoncker is able to play at both centre-back and as a defensive midfielder, so he would no doubt be a great addition to a Hammers side that is in need of some defensive steel.
The four-times Belgium international has made 28 appearances across all competitions this season, including six in the Champions League group stages where he play against the likes of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Celtic.
Football Insider verdict
Dendoncker would be a fantastic addition to the West Ham squad, but £20million is a lot of money for a player who is yet to be tested in one of Europe’s biggest leagues. The 22-year-old, like most others at Anderlecht, has had a testing first-half to the season which has seen a manager sacked, four pummellings in Europe and a title push derailed before it properly started. Dendoncker’s form has not been great in all that but he is a player with immense quality and potential, who could go on to be a real asset at the London Stadium. His versatility would be very useful to David Moyes and him sending out Pearce to scout him shows what sort of intent the Hammers have.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are favourites to sign this £25million centre-forward from a Premier League rival.
