West Ham star ‘needs taking out of the team’ after ‘disgraceful’ display vs Newcastle

Frustration from the West Ham supporters are continuing to show, with one star not impressing against Newcastle.

West Ham are in a relegation battle in the Premier League following just one win from their opening nine fixtures before the visit of Newcastle to the London Stadium.

Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed West Ham manager following the sacking of Graham Potter, but so far the Portuguese has not been able to turn around the clubs fortunes.

Only Wolves, who sacked Vitor Pereira following a winless start to the Premier League season, are below the Hammers in the table.

West Ham fans slam El Hadji Malick Diouf slammed for Newcastle performance

West Ham fans believe El Hadji Malick Diouf was at fault for the first Newcastle goal when Jacob Murphy put the visitors ahead.

Diouf has been a constant in the West Ham defence since his summer arrival, but fans are questioning his defensive ability.

One fan said: “Diouf’s defending is the problem.”

Whilst another commented: “Look at that bloody defending from El Hadji Malick Diouf and Todibo. Absolutely DREADFUL.”

Diouf can just run and cross. That’s it. He is not a left-back – he can’t defend. Body positioning all wrong for Newcastle’s first. Didn’t have a clue where Murphy was sending him,” a supporter said.

Diouf is great going forward.. amazing crosses .. but this guy can’t defend to save his life,” a fan claimed.

Fans want the 20-year-old dropped from the starting XI: “Diouf horrendous. Needs taking out the team. Kilman pushing far too high and getting turned super easily. Disgraceful.

That’s terrible by Diouf, the lack of intensity and nouse to show him down the line there was awful, the art of defending is dead lol,” a fan said on social media.

Diouf defending was ‘shambolic’

Speaking on Sky Sports, [2 November], former Premier League striker Chris Sutton also hit out at Diouf’s defending for the goal.

Pretty shambolic from [El Hadji Malick] Diouf, Murphy turns him outside out. As accurate and powerful as it was, he shouldn’t have been allowed to do that.”

West Ham have not kept a clean sheet in six consecutive matches since their 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest in August.
