West Ham tested with Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus bids – pundit

West Ham are going to be tested with bids for star players Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus this summer.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson admitted the Hammers are going to have to “show their ambition” by keeping hold of their prized assets.

West Ham confirmed David Moyes will leave the club once his contract expires summer, bringing his fourth-and-a-half years at the London Stadium to an end.

Football Insider revealed on 5 May Julen Lopetegui is likely to be the next Hammers boss after the club have offered him an “enormous” deal to replace Moyes.

There is expected to be interest in Paqueta again this summer after Football Insider revealed in March Manchester City will return with a bid to sign the Brazilian.

Kudus has also been linked with a move away from east London after putting in some outstanding performances since making the move from Ajax last year.

Robinson believes Lopetegui will be keen to see the duo remain at West Ham as he looks to take the club forward next season.

“They are going to be tested with bids this summer, without a shadow of a doubt,” he told Football Insider.

“It’s up to the club now to show their ambition. The supporters wanted a different style of football.

“They look at Aston Villa and the chance they took on Unai Emery. They look at what he’s done this season with the squad he had at his disposal and the players they have brought in.

“West Ham fans see a team that’s going to get a Champions League place playing a better brand of football and are thinking ‘Why can’t we do that?’.

“For the club’s ambition now, they have got to back the new manager coming in.

“He will want Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen. If West Ham are to progress, they need to keep those types of players.

“You are only going to regress by letting those type of players go.”
