‘We’ve lost the league’ – Liverpool fans react to ‘devastating’ update on Mohamed Salah injury
Liverpool fans are very worried by Jurgen Klopp’s “devastating” update on Mohamed Salah’s injury.
The Reds’ talisman limped off with an apparent hamstring injury just before halftime in Egypt’s groups-stage clash with Ghana in the African Cup of Nations on Thursday (18 January).
Klopp admitted in a press conference this morning (19 January) that he was in “shock” after hearing the news, but could not give anxious fans a timeline on when he may return.
Liverpool were expected to be without the Egyptian King until mid-February at the latest when AFCON concluded, but this fresh injury could prove a huge blow to their hopes of silverware.
Salah is the Reds’ top goal scorer this season with 18 in all competitions, double that of second-place Diogo Jota, and has been vital in getting his side to the top of the Premier League table.
The 31-year-old has avoided any long-term injuries since his move to Liverpool having missed just six of his 332 games for the club.
In light of the news, Liverpool supporters have taken to social media, and many feel that their hopes of lifting the Premier League title are now completely gone.
