Danny Mills has blasted Celtic defender Boli Bolingoli for breaking quarantine protocols to travel to Spain recently.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England international branded the 25-year-old an “absolute idiot” for his actions.
The full-back contravened government guidelines by failing to observe a period of isolation following a trip to Marbella and went on to feature in the Hoops’ 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock just days after.
Since then, Celtic have had their next two Scottish Premiership matches postponed, while Bolingoli himself has been charged by the SFA over the incident.
And Mills has no sympathy for him.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “What an idiot. What else can you say? What an absolute idiot.
“If it was that important for him to travel, all he had to do was say that he needed to go and asked for a special exemption. He’s being tested all the time, and maybe they could have worked something out, come to some sort of deal.
“To go and to not tell anybody, is it arrogance? Is it naivety? Is it stupidity? To think that he didn’t need to mention it, and then get back and still not mention it – what planet are these people on?
“If he’s got the where for all to book a flight, then he’s got the understanding that he needs to quarantine.”
Bolingoli made his trip to Spain last week, before travelling back and coming on for an 87th minute cameo against Killie last Sunday afternoon.
Current government guidelines state that anybody returning from Spain must remain isolated for a period of 14 days in an effort to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
