'What? Why? Hell no', 'Won't be happy' - Nottingham Forest fans react to PL transfer rumour
Nottingham Forest are interested in a summer swoop for Burnley midfielder Dean Marney, according to a report, and there has been a mixed reaction to this news from the Reds faithful.
The Nottingham Post claim that they have identified the 34-year-old as a summer target.
Marney would be available on a free transfer in the summer and an alternative option if Aitor Karanka does not seal a permanent move for Newcastle United loanee Jack Colback.
However, the Turf Moor stalwart has only recently come back from a cruciate knee ligament injury which required a year on the sidelines to treat.
Despite a return to the squad, Sean Dyche has not selected Marney yet and it’s unlikely Forest fans will get to see what the midfielder is capable of between now and the end of the season.
Supporters though were not sure what to make of the link between their club and the Burnley man.

While there were those that felt the player was too old for Forest, others were happy to go along with whatever Karanka’s plans were.
The club as a whole have been on the rise lately with an upturn in fortune and results. A draw against Derby last time out was the latest in a run of results that has seen them go unbeaten in the last five league outings.
Here is what supporters had to say about the latest transfer gossip:
