Whelan backs Leeds as fifth signing reportedly completed in secret
Noel Whelan has suggested Leeds United must have a “good reason” a new youth signing is reportedly being kept under wraps.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker insisted the Whites are “usually pretty good” at keeping fans informed of new arrivals.
As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post on Thursday (July 8th), Leeds have completed, but not announced, the signing of at least one youth player behind the scenes.
It is said the Whites could wait until later in the summer before revealing all their new additions at youth level.
The Whites have confirmed the captures of Amari Bell and Sean McGurk for the under-23s so far.
Meanwhile, at senior level, Jack Harrison has signed permanently and Junior Firpo has joined from Barcelona.

Whelan suggested the club must have a reason why they are keeping quiet about their fifth signing.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think there’s a reason behind any young player coming to Leeds.
“There’s also a reason why they may not want to announce it straight away.
“The club are usually pretty good at announcing players when they come through.
“This time, there’s obviously a good reason behind it in doing so. It doesn’t really make much of a difference.
“It’s a player that is probably going to be going into the under-23s.
“The bigger signings the fans are looking out for are the likes of Firpo. As well as young players coming to our club, he looks very, very exciting.”
Leeds brought in the likes of Sam Greenwood, Joe Gelhardt and Cody Drameh to bolster their under-23s last summer.
Greenwood made his professional debut as a substitute in the FA Cup versus Crawley,
Meanwhile, Gelhardt was an unused substitute for eight games in the Premier League.
