Exclusive: Whelan unexpectedly names 23-yr-old as the one leader in Bielsa's team
Noel Whelan has surprisingly hailed Jack Harrison as the one true leader in the Leeds United team.
The former Whites forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claims that the once-criticised winger is now taking on more responsibility at the club having settled in his second season at Elland Road.
Since arriving at Elland Road in July 2018 Harrison has been a prominent fixture in Marcelo Bielsa’s side, making 67 appearances.
When asked about the 23-year-old, in an interview with Football Insider, Whelan pointed out his leadership qualities as he suggested they exceeded the likes of club captain Liam Cooper as well as senior stars like Kalvin Phillips, Kiko Casilla, Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas.
“Jack looks settled and happier at the football club,” he said.
“He is one player where you can see leadership. When things aren’t going well he is the one trying to ignite the fire. It is great to see that he feels more relaxed so he can be that leader and get the players going. We need more like that.

“When you come to this stage of the season you need 11 leaders out there. People who are going to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and demand from their own teammates and that sort of character is what you need and what gets you the promotion.
“The people that are weak around you, will let you down.”
The attacker has scored 5 goals and contributed 6 assists already this season, a significant improvement on his 4 goals and 3 assists in the entirety of the 2018/19 campaign.
Reports suggest that United will have the option to sign the Manchester City player on a permanent basis this summer for £8million.
In other Leeds news, pundit suggests that it is time to go for 23-year-old with ‘a lot of potential.’
