Noel Whelan insists that Sam Greenwood is looking like “money well spent” for Leeds United after his performances for the under-23s.
The former Leeds forward and boyhood fan of the Whites, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, has been left raving over the summer arrival after an impressive start to life with Mark Jackson’s men.
Leeds confirmed back in August that the 18-year-old had signed a three-year deal at Elland Road to complete a move from Arsenal.

The teenager has made an immediate impact in the under-23s with five goals in four games so far.
He has also been included in the most recent England under-19s squad, alongside fellow Leeds youngsters Charlie Cresswell and Joe Gelhardt.
Whelan has lauded Greenwood for his performances and insists he is looking like a fantastic addition for the future.
Whelan told Football Insider: “Really good striker, very assured of himself, a good finisher and again, he’s not really taken that long to settle into life at Leeds.
“Straight away, he’s got a good partnership going with Joe Gelhardt and they’ve hit the ground running very quickly.
“It just goes to show that it’s money well spent on the youth bringing him in from Arsenal.”
Greenwood opened his account for Leeds’ reserves with a goal against Wolves in September.
He netted a hat-trick against boyhood club Sunderland in the under-23s’ next fixture before he scored a late winner against Middlesbrough at the start of October.
