Whelan salutes Aston Villa after latest signing completed
Noel Whelan claims Ashley Young can bring vital experience to Aston Villa on his return to the club.
The former Leeds hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, also hailed the Villains’ early transfer business.
On Friday (18th June) Villa confirmed Young had re-signed for Villa after a spell with Inter Milan.
Young, 35, played for Villa between 2007 and 2011 before leaving to join Manchester United.
He recently spent a year and a half at the San Siro and made 26 league appearances as Inter won the Serie A last season.
Villa have also confirmed the signing of Emi Buendia from Norwich in a club-record deal.

Whelan insists Young can be an asset to Villa and praised the club’s swift actions in the transfer market.
“He’s coming off the back of a great season at Inter,” Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“He turned down that extension, so the signs were there that he wanted to come home.
“He’s experienced football abroad and become a Serie A champion to add to his other medals.
“He knows Aston Villa after a long and successful spell with them. He will add that experience and competition.
“Villa aren’t wasting any time, are they? They already have new faces through the door in Buendia.
“He has that youth and creativity and now they have the experience of Young.”
Young scored 38 goals in 190 appearances for Villa during his first spell at the club.
He joined the Villains from Watford in the winter of 2007.
