Whelan thrilled as Leeds 'confident' of agreeing £100,000-a-week deal after Bielsa talks
Noel Whelan was thrilled when he heard Angus Kinnear’s recent comments regarding Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United future.
The former Whites hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, loved what he heard from the club’s Chief Executive.
Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, Kinnear revealed United are “confident” Bielsa will sign a new deal this summer.
Bielsa famously doesn’t sign extended deals with his current contract set to expire this summer.
He only signed his last one-year deal on the eve of Leeds’ first game back in the Premier League last year.
During his interview, Kinnear also revealed Bielsa hasn’t gone on holiday this summer, instead choosing to oversee the latest developments to Thorp Arch.

Whelan insists Bielsa loves Leeds and his summer plans are a testament to how seriously he takes his role at Elland Road.
“He is different to a lot of managers,” Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“A lot of managers feel the need to break away from all that. Clearly, Bielsa doesn’t.
“He loves where he lives in Leeds. He’s very content and happy. It shows how important all of this is to him.
“He wants to see everything he’s asking for put in place for the start of next season.
“That’s how important he sees his role at Leeds.
“He wants to progress from what was already a fantastic season last year.”
Bielsa joined Leeds in 2017 and is incredibly popular with the Elland Road faithful.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider the big-money deal will be worth more than £100,000-a-week to Bielsa, and his backroom staff will also nets lucrative contract.
