Whelan tips Everton to sign top stars this summer after stunning £200m update

Noel Whelan has tipped Everton to launch a summer spending spree after £200million of new investment.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League striker claimed Carlo Ancelotti will attract top players to Goodison Park like he did last summer.

This site reported last week owner Farhad Moshiri has pumped another £200m into the club and his investment vehicle Blue Heaven Holdings have increased their stake in the club to 92.2 per cent.

Last summer Everton added Allan, James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ben Godfrey for a combined total of over £60million.

Asked whether he expects the Toffees to have a similar transfer window this year, Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs: “Yes.

“Last season when Ancelotti went into the market and brought those players in that was the start of something exciting for Everton. I think everyone could feel that.

“A second transfer window for Ancelotti in the summer could prove dividends. Again, it’s going to strengthen them massively.

“I’m sure Ancelotti, like when he came in, has got ideas of players he wants to bring in to the football club.

“Like Marcelo Bielsa, having a manager like that is going to attract players.

“The strength of the financial capacity and the strength of the pulling power Ancelotti has… Who doesn’t want to work under managers like that? Absolute legends of the game.”

On the pitch, Everton are enjoying a decent campaign in Carlo Ancelotti’s first full season in charge.

They are just five points behind Chelsea who occupy fourth place and are in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

In other news, a top pundit has claimed a midfielder will be sold by Everton for a fraction of the mega fee they paid.
