When Dominic Solanke could return for Tottenham as Thomas Frank shares promising injury update

As Tottenham get ready for their showdown with Chelsea, Thomas Frank has revealed when Dominic Solanke could return to action.

Spurs have been without Dominic Solanke since he picked up an ankle injury during their 2-0 victory over Manchester City on August 23.

Solanke returned to Spurs training almost a month later, but unfortunately, he was hit with the crushing news that he required surgery on his ankle problem.

The 28-year-old underwent surgery at the start of October, and since then, has been working closely with the medical department ahead of his return.

Thankfully, ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Chelsea on Saturday (November 1), Frank has offered a promising update on his progress.

Dominic Solanke could return after the international break

Speaking in his press conference on Friday, the Dane said: “We’re very aware that we want Dom back. We want him back and no setbacks. We’re very aware of doing it in the right way. It is going in the right way but he won’t be back before the international break.”

All roads point towards Solanke returning after the international break, potentially ahead of their North London showdown with Arsenal on November 23.

Games before Dominic Solanke could return:

But as Frank alluded to in his press conference, he doesn’t want the Englishman to suffer any setbacks, so supporters may have to wait until December before they see him in action.

Spurs are missing Solanke’s ruthless edge

Although Spurs have made a solid start to life under Frank, cementing their place in the Champions League spots, their position could have been even better with a fully fit Solanke available.

The former Brentford boss has chopped and changed his forward line, with Richarlison starting the Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle, while Randal Kolo Muani was preferred in the 3-0 win over Everton.

Before that, Mathys Tel started the 2-1 win defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League, but neither of the trio have asserted their dominance and grabbed the starting jersey permanently in Solanke’s absence.

It says a lot when Micky van de Ven is tied as the club’s top scorer with Richarlison in the top flight (three goals).

Spurs are missing Solanke’s ruthless edge, and his return could take them to the next level after bagging 16 in all competitions last term.
