With Heck on his way out of Leeds, Radrizzani must go all out to bring one man to Elland Road

COMMENT

It appears that Paul Heckingbottom could be on his way out of Elland Road, after news broke that Leeds were set to sack their new manager.

Football Insider revealed that the decision has been made by the club hierarchy, with the only decision left to be made whether he goes now or at the end of the season.

His time at Leeds hasn’t worked out very well at all.

But the timing of his departure could be a whole let better.

Some Leeds fans are calling for Simon Grayson to return to finish the job he started when he took the club up from League One to the Championship.

But wise words say you should never go back, and Grayson isn’t the man to lead Leeds into the Premier League – where everyone believes they belong.

Instead, that man is Mick McCarthy.

The Ipswich manager announced he was leaving his current job with immediate effect in typically no-nonsense fashion in his post-match press conference last night.

It hasn’t been a great season for Ipswich either, but in 12th they’re two places higher than Leeds, and McCarthy took them to the play-offs in the 2014/15 season.

Having someone of his calibre available is better than a coincidence and it could save Leeds a lot of money.

There’s been talk of him going to West Brom, but that’s a club on the way down.

If Andrea Radrizzani puts his effort into convincing him to join his Elland Road revolution, we could see it working and McCarthy is just what Leeds need.

With money behind him in the summer and a natural leader installed on the pitch, we could see them finally making the play-offs next season – and possibly going one better.
