Who Scored ranks West Ham ace higher than Liverpool 24-year-old in top 100 players for 2016

Who Scored have ranked West Ham ace Dimitri Payet higher than Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho in their list of top 100 players for 2016.

As reported by Sky Sports, football statistics website Who Scored “gives players competing in Europe’s top five leagues a mark out of 10 based on a wide range of statistical data. Each player received an average score for 2016, and to qualify for our list, players had to have made at least 20 league appearances.”

As a result of that list playmaker Payet is ranked at number 11, with a rating of 7.68, while Brazillian Coutinho, 24, received a rating of 7.66 in 13th place.

It is stated in the report that Payet has averaged more key passes in the Premier League this season, while Coutinho has also matched having over four shots per game from last term.

France international Payet has not been able to deliver the goods which earned him a fierce reputation during his debut campaign in English football.

But, he has still managed to produce respectable performances, despite West Ham struggling in the bottom half of the table.

Payet has scored three goals and provided seven assists in 18 Premier League and EFL fixture this season.

By contrast, Coutinho has helped his title-chasing Liverpool team by scoring six goals and supplying the same number of assists in 14 games in all competitions.

Other players in England’s top flight to have made the top 20 list are, Diego Costa, Virgil van Dijk, N’Golo Kante and Alexis Sanchez.

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi claimed top spot ahead of his teammate Neymar and Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale with a rating of 8.32.

But, 2016 Ballan d’Or, European Cup and European Championship winner Christian Ronaldo was ranked fourth with a rating of 8.05.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are joint favourites to sign this Liverpool 27-year-old.
