‘Wilfried Nancy is done’ – Celtic fans say the same thing about sacking tonight

Celtic have lost the Scottish League Cup final to St. Mirren 3-1 in their third consecutive defeat since appointing Wilfried Nancy.

Nancy was appointed by Celtic just last week, but is already under massive pressure at Celtic Park after another dismal performance.

Jonah Ayunga scored twice in the second half for St. Mirren, sparking huge embarrassment for the Bhoys against a side who they had beaten just last month.

Celtic fans were already calling on Nancy to be sacked after his side lost to Roma in the Europa League on Thursday, but the anger has now further intensified.

Celtic fans demand Wilfried Nancy be sacked

Celtic‘s first two results under Nancy had drawn huge criticism, but there was some sympathy for the Frenchman.

After just days in charge, the former Columbus Crew head coach faced the Scottish Premiership leaders in Hearts, and Italian giants Roma.

But there will be little understanding for Sunday’s result. St. Mirren are ninth in the league and 18 points behind Celtic.

Just last month, Callum McGregor scored a 95th-minute winner to hand the Bhoys victory away against the same team.

Immediately after the final whistle, Celtic fans voiced their rage. One fan said, “Nancy is just Russell Martin in disguise“, comparing the Frenchman to the former Rangers boss, who was sacked in October.

Another simply asked for Nancy to leave, with other, angrier reactions, simply saying that the Frenchman is “done”.

One user said that the 48-year-old “could go down as the worst manager in the history of the club.

Others suggested that Nancy is “out of his depth”, with the Frenchman struggling to adapt to the Scottish game.

Nancy could overshadow Russell Martin embarrassment

Martin was in charge of Rangers for just 123 days before he was relieved of his duties at Ibrox.

The former Southampton boss took charge of 17 games, winning just five across all competitions in a dismal four months.

But the 39-year-old can at least boast to have enjoyed a winning start – something Nancy cannot relate to.

Three losses in just 11 days, and eight goals conceded across them. It has been a woeful start to life in Scotland for the Frenchman, and he must fix it immediately if he wants to remain in charge of Celtic.
