Willian sends message to Fulham fans in new dig at former club
Willian sent a heartfelt message to the Fulham supporters after their win against high-flying Nottingham Forest on Saturday (15 February).
Marco Silva’s men defeated Forest 2-1 at Craven Cottage after goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Calvin Bassey proved too much for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Chris Wood continued his impressive individual campaign by scoring a 37th-minute equaliser, but it wasn’t enough for Forest.
The victory moved Fulham into eighth place as they jumped ahead of Aston Villa in their pursuit of European football next season.
Silva’s side now only sit two points behind Newcastle United in the Premier League table after 25 fixtures.
Fulham will play Crystal Palace in their next fixture on Saturday (22 February) at home.
Willian thanked the Fulham fans and hit out at ex-employers
Willian made his first appearance of the season off the bench against Forest after making a surprise return to the club during the January transfer window.
The Brazil international returned to the Premier League side on a free transfer until the end of this season after mutually agreeing to terminate his Olympiacos deal, who he’d joined last summer from Fulham.
The 36-year-old was given a resounding reception by the fans which he reflected on via an Instagram message.
He said, “Being in a place where you are celebrated is much better than being in a place where you are tolerated. Thank you Fulham fans for the warm welcome back yesterday at the Cottage.”

Willian snubbed Saudi Arabia to return to Fulham
Football Insider revealed that Willian had a number of opportunities during the January transfer window about where he wanted to play after failing to settle in Athens, including a potential move to Saudi Arabia.
The former two-time Premier League winner also had numerous clubs in the English top flight looking at him, but the experienced winger ultimately chose to make a return to Craven Cottage.
The Brazilian scored 10 goals and provided seven assists during his 67 appearances for Fulham during his previous spell.
