Now that Wolves have clinched promotion to the Premier League, Nuno Espirito Santo and Jeff Shi should be starting to drum up plans for the summer transfer window and how they can turn this squad into one that can seriously compete with the elite.
If the West Midlands club can coax Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota to the Championship, then there’s every chance that they could reel through the list of Jorge Mendes’ clients and tick off 90 per cent of names as ones that they could sign in the summer.
One player that Wolves absolutely must go out and sign in Lazio centre-back Wallace, who has been on the peripheries of the Italian giants’ squad this season and could be available if Mendes tells him that Nuno wants him to help bolster his defence.
Wallace, 23, has made just 16 appearances in all competitions for Lazio – who sit fourth in Serie A – this season and with Willy Boly’s loan deal set to end in the summer, Nuno should be looking at the 6ft 3in Brazilian colossus to fill the void.
The Brazil Under-23s international cost Lazio around £7million when they signed him from Braga in 2016.
That was off the back of a successful two-season loan at Monaco in France, a move that was set by Mendes.
It’s clear that the Portuguese super-agent has a massive influence over Wallace’s career, and he should definitely try to steer him in the direction of Molineux in the coming months.
In other Wolves news, Stan Collymore has offered his reaction to Wanderers’ promotion to the top-flight.
