Wolves expecting Matheus Cunha bid – Arsenal & Aston Villa latest revealed
Wolves are expecting one or more Matheus Cunha offers before the 3 February transfer deadline, sources have told Football Insider.
Aston Villa, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest are among the sides with a strong interest in the 25-year-old.
Vitor Pereira has been critical of Cunha’s body language in recent weeks but is desperate to keep him past the end of the mid-season transfer window.
The Brazil international is seen as crucial to the Molineux club’s quest for survival and they are steadfast in their desire to keep him in this window.
Wolves are under no pressure to sell in order to meet Premier League financial rules having already sold key duo Max Kilman and Pedro Neto for big fees this season.
They are also aware the ex-Atletico Madrid man will be too hard to replace with just days left of the winter window.
Cunha has held talks with the Midlands club over a new contract but it is believed exit negotiations will be revisited in the summer regardless of any progress in those talks.
Wolves don’t need to sell Cunha amid Aston Villa and Arsenal interest
The forward’s current deal at Molineux is set to run until June 2027 after his arrival in 2023.
He has scored 10 goals and notched four goals in 23 games across all competitions this season.
Cunha has hit 26 goals in 79 games for Wolves, who signed him on an initial loan which was later made permanent for a reported fee of £44million.

Pereira’s side are back inside the Premier League relegation zone after losing each of the last four top-flight games.
They are next in action against Aston Villa on Saturday (1 February) before the transfer window shuts next week (3 February).
