Wolves are reportedly getting ready to smash their transfer record by tabling a £20million bid for Stoke midfielder Joe Allen in the summer transfer window – but that could mean crowd pleaser Ruben Neves is on his way out.
The Sun has reported that Wolves will make a formal offer for Allen ahead of their return to the Premier League, with the £20million sum that has been suggested being far more than the current record spend on Neves of £15million.
It is understood that the 28-year-old Welshman is top of Nuno Espirito Santo’s wishlist going in to the summer, but that surely means that they are looking at potential replacements for Neves.
Lisbon-based journalist Marcus Alves has reported on his personal Twitter account that the Portugal international is due to join Liverpool in the coming months and his agent Jorge Mendes will surely take up any chance that comes the midfielder’s way for him to move to a Champions League team as big as Liverpool.
Allen and Neves are both deeper-lying playmakers and that means that the Molineux fan favourite may be bound for an exit.
There may just be one more appearance in the gold and black left for Neves next week against relegated Sunderland.
Make sure to take in as much as you possible can Wolves fans, because it may be the final time you see him.
In other Wolves news, Wanderers are likely to sign this £95,000-a-week Tottenham player in the summer.
