Former Tottenham defender Kyle Walker thinks that Tottenham have what it takes to beat Man United in their huge FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.
Mauricio Pochettino is still looking for his first trophy at Tottenham, but has a huge chance to bring the FA Cup back to north London.
First though, he needs to get past a Man United side, with Jose Mourinho an expert at doing what’s necessary to progress in high-profile cup competitions.
However, Kyle Walker was full of praise for his former manager and said that he thinks Spurs will get through.
Talking on talkSPORT, Walker said, “Pochettino is a top-class coach – you can see that with the players he has brought through and what he’s done for Tottenham Hotspur as a football club.
“They do need trophies. They have a lot of players there who want to win things, but it’s a work in progress.
“They’re still in the FA Cup this season – they’ve got Manchester United on Saturday and in their current form I think they can do it.”
Football Insider verdict:
Pochettino might be playing the FA Cup down, but this is a huge match and if they can get past Man United then Spurs would be one game away from bringing home a trophy that would get pundits off their backs. Man United might be second in the league, with Tottenham two places back, but Walker is right, on current for you’d have to fancy Spurs to do the job at their adopted home ground on Saturday. And, if they do get through to the final, we’d expect Pochettino’s tune to change. Winning the FA Cup might not change their lives, as Poch was quick to point out in his latest press conference, but it would change everyone’s view of his Tottenham team.
