Paul Robinson has heaped praise on West Ham summer signing Said Benrahma after he starred on his full debut for the club.

The former Spurs and Leeds United goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, hailed the “fantastic” performance of the 25-year-old at Elland Road on Friday night.

Benrahma helped the Hammers climb to sixth in the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Leeds in what his his first start for the club.

The attacking midfielder, who’s already contributed two assists for the Irons this season, has had to bide his time since arriving on a season-long loan deal from Brentford.

Robinson claimed Moyes would be over the moon with the Algeria international’s performance.

“I was really impressed with Benrahma,” he told Football Insider. “I thought he was fantastic.

“We have seen David Moyes adopt a similar approach with Jarrod Bowen, he waited a little while before starting him and it paid off.

“I thought he looked sharp, fit and he also carried a goal threat.

“David Moyes will be delighted with him and the whole team. Things are going really well at West Ham at the moment.”  

Speaking on the Algeria international after the win, Declan Rice told club media: “”Tonight was special and special for Said, as well. What a player!

“Some of the stuff he did, you look back and go ‘Wow! What a player!’. He was really good.”
