Wrexham vs Nottingham Forest postponement latest as Storm Goretti landfall threatens disruption
Wrexham’s FA Cup third-round clash with Nottingham Forest on Friday is at risk of postponement.
Storm Goretti is set to land in the UK on Thursday, with several games across the country at risk amid strong weather conditions.
Frozen pitches and snowfall are expected to cause major disruption, with conditions over the coming days to be monitored closely.
Premier League games are at risk of postponement, with key matches on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday awaiting further inspection.
Hull City’s clash with Watford was called off on Sunday, after the areas surrounding the pitch were deemed to be unsafe.

Storm Goretti threatens Wrexham vs Nottingham Forest postponement
The period building up to and surrounding Christmas is already fairly hellish for football clubs.
Fixtures are packed in wherever they can go, with teams often asked to play as many as three games in the space of a week.
| Fixture date | Nottingham Forest | Wrexham |
| 9 Jan | Wrexham (A) | Nottingham Forest (H) |
| 17 Jan | Arsenal (H) | Norwich (H) |
However, in the case of Friday’s game, both teams have actually been afforded a good period of rest between the corresponding fixtures.
For that reason, there will be a lot of hope riding on the fact that it does indeed go ahead. A postponement would likely see it squished into a tighter period over the next month, creating an issue for both teams.
However, the Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for snow on Friday, which could create a serious issue.

Wrexham‘s Racecourse Ground offers very little protection from the elements, and officials will be keeping a close eye on the conditions.
What other games could be affected?
MK Dons are set to take on Oxford United in the FA Cup on Friday, as well, with that game also expected to be disrupted by Storm Goretti.
The same can be said of Port Vale‘s tie with Fleetwood Town, which will fall just inside the area of effect.
Preston North End and Wigan Athletic are expected to just miss the storm’s disruption, but that is certainly no guarantee.
Match officials involved in all four games will be closely watching conditions over the next few days as they prepare to make a decision.
