Xavi has spoken out about comments The Sun quoted him as saying regarding Tottenham star Dele Alli, which led to a response from Mauricio Pochettino stating the playmaker “hated him.”
The Sun quoted the former Barcelona man in an exclusive interview on Tuesday as to saying his old boss and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola would be a fan of Spurs star Alli.
This then led to a strong outburst from Pochettino, who went on to say to Sky Sports that Xavi was his enemy and that the 37-year-old hated him.
However, there is a new twist and Xavi himself has spoken out to Spanish publication Sport, claiming he never spoke to the Sun regarding the Tottenham key man.
According to Sport, Xavi has said he “never” gave an interview to the Sun, “never” spoke about the England international and thus resulting that “neither” did he make a comment about City’s interest.

There has been much concern regarding the future of Alli at the club and both fans and Pochettino are going to turn defensive if another club tries backhand tactics, like the Sun made out that Xavi had done.
The England international is still contracted to Tottenham until 2022 and with a stunning return of 16 goals and seven assists in 31 outings this season those associated with Spurs will be fighting for him to remain.
In other Tottenham news, a Sky Sports pundit has predicted the outcome of Spurs’ Sunday clash against Arsenal.
