Xhaka blasted by pundit after 'brutally surprised' Arsenal reveal today
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Arsenal fans have every right to be “fed up” with Granit Xhaka.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward admitted it was “baffling” that Xhaka was rewarded with a new contract over the summer.
The midfield repaid the faith shown in him by getting sent off in Arsenal’s 5-0 thrashing by Manchester City.
Xhaka was shown a straight red for his challenge on Jaoa Cancelo after 35 minutes with City already 2-0 up.
As quoted by Football 365 today (September 1), the 28-year-old claimed he was “brutally surprised” by his sending off.
Mikel Arteta also questioned the decision and did not criticise his player.

“Arteta is not going to come out and be that upset because he’s given him a new contract and has to stick by him,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“He knows if you give him that contract you cannot be hammering him.
“It’s just a baffling situation, to be honest. I don’t understand it. I don’t think anyone understands it.
“A player that has been so poor for the club, they try and sell him and he gets a new contract. Then he goes and gets sent off like that, it’s nonsense.
“I think Arsenal fans are fed up with him.”
Xhaka has now received four red cards in 224 games for Arsenal across all competitions.
He penned a one-year contract extension with the Gunners this summer after failing to secure a move to Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
