Xhaka dropped: Arsenal best possible XI to face Manchester City
COMMENT By Dominic Toner
Arsenal should make two changes to their starting XI for the Premier League clash against Manchester City.
The Gunners host Man City on Sunday and will be desperate to make up ground on the top four.
Arsene Wenger should bring in David Ospina for injured goalkeeper Petr Cech, who is sidelined with a calf injury.
Meanwhile, Mesut Ozoil should return to the starting line-up and replace the inconsistent Granit Xhaka.
The 24-year-old has struggled to make the desired impact since his move to the Emirates Stadium and should be dropped from the side.
They will need to be at their best to get anything against Pep Guardiola’s Man City and Xhaka has not shown enough yet to suggest he can perform in the big games.
Ospina should come in as the goalkeeper and fans should be encouraged by his displays in the cup competitions this season.
Wenger should stick with the same back four as Hector Bellerin and Nacho Montreal play in the full-back positions.
That leaves the centre-back pairing of Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny, who need to recapture their best form if Arsenal are to obtain a Champions League spot.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey should be given the chance to impress in the central midfield area, meaning Xhaka is left on the substitutes bench.
Ozil should make his comeback from injury and play in the attacking areas alongside goal threats Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.
Danny Welbeck should continue in attack, but Lucas Perez and Olivier GIroud remain great options off the bench.
In other Arsenal team news, William Gallas claims his former side can win the title if they don’t qualify for Europe this season.
