Yoane Wissa reacts to Bryan Mbeumo message amid Newcastle developments

Yoane Wissa responds to Bryan Mbeumo’s Instagram post amid links with a move to Newcastle United.

It has been a tough transfer window for Brentford as they continue to lose key players across the pitch.

First-choice goalkeeper Mark Flekken left for Bayer Leverkusen as well as midfield powerhouse Christian Norgaard moving to Arsenal.

The latest to leave the club is main man Mbeumo, who signed for Man United for a reported £65million.

The Cameroonian contributed to 27 goals in 38 appearances in the Premier League last season, playing an instrumental part in the Bees tenth place finish.

His departure has left new manager Keith Andrews with a large hole to fill as the west London side brace for life without their pivotal playmaker.

Wissa approves of Mbeumo’s move

Mbeumo posted on Instagram (22 July) of himself in a suit signing his new Man United contract with the caption ‘New chapter.’

Congolese striker Wissa liked the post amid new developments on his Bees future as he left the Brentford training camp in Portugal.

Growing speculation of an exit is understood to have unsettled the 28-year-old who is being pursued by Newcastle, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest.

Brentford facing a tricky season ahead

Football Insider verdict

Should Wissa leave the Bees to join one of the many Premier League suitors, the west London side would be in a perilous position ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

The Congolese and Cameroonian were a devastating attacking duo, scoring 39 of Brentford’s 66 goals in last season’s top-flight.

Newcastle, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest can all offer varying degrees of European football which may be enough to tempt the Congolese striker to leave the Gtech.

Valued at £26m according to Sofascore and with one year left on his contract, the Brentford hierarchy must act swiftly to either cash in or extend the striker’s deal before it is too late.

Despite all of Wissa’s suitors having strong striking options, the Bees’ all-time Premier League top goalscorer has more than enough quality to break into any side.

He now faces a crucial decision to decide whether he leaves his home of four years for pastures new and the chance to play European football.
