Richarlison is a “Wow” player who’s so good he’s “Scary” for Everton’s opponents, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds United and Coventry City striker has been blown away by the Brazil international, who joined the Merseysiders last summer from Watford for an initial £35million rising to £50million.
Richarlison, 21, has scored 13 goals from 34 appearances for Everton, which include 12 league strikes from 31 games.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Whelan explained why the eight-times international is destined for big things.
“You look at him and you think, ‘wow’,” Whelan said. “He has been the player of the season at Everton. He hit the ground running before a quiet patch, and has been back on fire recently.
“He’s such a handful with his pace and power, and can carry the ball forward long distances. That makes him scary for defenders. He can score goals, as well.
“The exciting thing is he’s so young and will get better with experience, knowing when to pass, when to dribble. His decision-making will improve.”
Richarlison has played in all three forward positions this season, starting on the left flank before a run as centre-forward and has been used on the right of late.
He is set to play for Everton in their Premier League clash on Saturday against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
