'100%' – Rangers fans want PL free agent with Ibrox family links in summer, rated-£8m in Jan

Rangers fans want to see Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield at Ibrox in the summer.

The 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer and would be available for free, and one fan said that he would “100%” take him at Ibrox for next season.

Back in 2015, Arfield admitted that he was relishing playing in a Burnley v Rangers friendly, and that he had lots of mates and family who were Rangers fans.

“I’m buzzing to go back and play at Ibrox,” Arfield said.

“My phone went off the hook as soon as the game got announced. There are a lot of my mates and family members who are Rangers fans and it’s one of the pre-season highlights for me. It is the sort of the game you want to be playing in.”

Arfield started his career in Scotland at Falkirk, before moving to Huddersfield in 2010 and then Burnley in 2013.

Rangers fans hope his enthusiasm for Rangers is still as high – although one fan said he was sure he was a Celtic fan – and would love to see him make one big last move north of the border to bring his career full circle.

Mark Allen would be getting a bargain if he could convince him to join – Burnley reportedly wanted £8million for him on the last day of the January transfer deadline.

Now he’s set to move for free.
