Isaac Hayden looks to prove Arsenal wrong with defiant message for Newcastle fans

By Aramide Oladipo

Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has sent a message to Newcastle fans – and his former club Arsenal – by claiming that he is ready and has the ability to make an impact in the Premier League next season.

If he stays with the Newcastle first team next season it will be the first time that the 22-year-old will play competitively in the English top flight, despite spending three years at Arsenal.

The youngster decided to leave the Emirates at the beginning of the 2016/17 season in order to get more minutes under his belt and progress as a footballer, and he has played a massive role in helping the Magpies achieve automatic promotion.

It’s a case of deja vu for Hayden after he joined Hull City on a season-long loan last year, making 24 appearances for the Tigers and helping them to get promoted to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Hayden has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Newcastle United this season, making 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals in the process in the wins over Reading and Cardiff.

Speaking to the Evening Chronicle, Hayden believes that he has the ability to play at the top level and he cannot wait for the following season to get underway.

“That’s the pinnacle, that’s where everybody wants to play,” Hayden said of the Premier League.

“All the best players in the world want to come to the Premier League and test themselves against the best players.

“I know I have got improving to do in certain aspects of my game – I have spoken to the manager about that – but he’s got full confidence in me, I have got full confidence in myself that come next season, especially in pre-season, my body will be 100-per-cent fit, ready and raring to go and improve.

“I should have no doubt that I’ll be able to hack it in the Premier League.”
