26-year-old just not good enough: Three things we learned from Newcastle defeat to Huddersfield
2. Rafa Benitez is going to lose patience before too long
Before the game Benitez had this to say on the Newcastle summer.
“I had a meeting with Mike and his advisors and the meeting was very clear. What happened afterwards was not exactly what I was expecting. Obviously things have changed.
“I like to coach players and improve players if it’s possible. If they want to, if they’re capable, you can improve players.”
Benitez is a brilliant manager but he can’t work miracles.
He was promised funds at the start of the summer – every penny that Newcastle makes according to a jubilant Mike Ashley.
That clearly hasn’t happened and if anything the team has gone backwards.
They were beating teams like Huddersfield for fun last season but the result today was a fair one and Newcastle were beaten by the better team on the day.
Benitez won’t put up with this for long and if if he doesn’t get funds before the end of the summer transfer window he could call it quits.
And if he does that, newcastle will rightly be favourites to go straight back down again.
