Defender Florian Lejeune has left St. James’ Park wearing a protective boot and on crutches after Newcastle’s defeat against Tottenham, according to a reliable journalist.
The 26-year-old Frenchman was forced off the field after 34 minutes following a challenge from Harry Kane, causing Magpies fans to worry about their summer signing.
However, it does not look good for Lejeune with Shields Gazette reporter Liam Kennedy reporting via his personal Twitter account on Sunday that the centre-back needed support from crutches as well as protection on his leg on his departure from the stadium.

Lejeune made the switch to the north east of England from Spanish club Eibar and he will have been hoping for a much better start to his Magpies career, especially at St. James’ Park.
However, it may now take a while before the French ace is wearing the black and white kit again with an expected spell on the sidelines coming up for the defender.
Newcastle’s next fixtures will see them take on fellow promoted club Huddersfield on Sunday before an EFL Cup clash against Nottingham Forest and then a league encounter back at St. James’ Park against West Ham.
In other Newcastle news, Magpies fans reacted on Twitter to Javier Manqullo’s display against Tottenham.
