The Spaniard has spent two years at Stoke but he failed to hold down a regular place in the starting lineup and was sent out on loan to Deportivo La Coruña last season.
The striker leaves the bet365 Stadium having scored a total of four goals and provided four assists in 27 appearances in all competitions.
Despite suffering from a knee injury at the start of last season, Joselu enjoyed a fine loan spell with La Liga side Deportivo, notching up six goals in all competitions, including strikes against Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The striker’s performances helped the Spanish outfit to avoid relegation and Newcastle supporters will be hopeful that he can replicate his form for them this season.
Football Insider verdict
This is a very good piece of business for the Magpies as Joselu is the first player to join the club this summer with proper Premier League experience. Following his spell with Stoke, the striker should not find it too difficult to adapt to the pace of the game and he could potentially turn out to be a key signing come the end of the season. The Spaniard appears to be a player who needs a decent run in the side to produce his best and he will definitely be given that opportunity at St James’ Park. The striker will need to show desire and determination in order to become a fan favourite this season and he’ll need to show his clinical side as the Magpies might not always have many chances in their return to the top flight.
