'£400m' Man United claim issued after 'painful' Solskjaer sacking reveal

Man United will give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer until the end of the season unless “something drastic” happens before then.

That is the view of ex-Premier League striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 48-year-old’s future at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has come under heavy criticism after convincing losses at home to Liverpool and Manchester City.

Football Insider revealed yesterday (10th November) that the United board will sack Solskjaer if he does not oversee an immediate revival after the international break.

The Red Devils travel to Watford, Villarreal and Chelsea in the space of eight days when the season resumes.

Campbell claimed the board will want to see how Solskjaer progresses the side after spending “over £400million”.

“I believe it would take something drastic to get rid of him before the end of the season.

“Yes, it is painful for United fans right now. But, knee-jerk reactions aren’t the way to go.

“Look where Solskjaer has taken the team. We’re talking about the key points now. When he came to Man United they were languishing. They finished second last season. Look at the squad he has assembled. It is full of world-class talent.

“Man United are perennially a second half of the season side. They are going through some pain now but I expect them to kick on after Christmas.

“If they sack Ole they are starting all over again. He has shaped this squad. He has spent over £400million. That is a lot of money. Do you give him the courtesy of seeing what he can do with that squad this season? Then bring someone else in during the summer.

“I think that’s what Man United will do. They are not a sacking club. They will give managers time.”
